"To see the Truth of the Old Ones is to invite insanity. Pursue it Always."
From the Creed of the Temple
The Temple of the Old Ones is an occult religious organisation inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft and the philosophy of Cosmicism.
At the heart of the Temple's beliefs lies Cosmicism, a philosophy introduced by Lovecraft that highlights humanity's insignificance within a vast and indifferent universe. While Lovecraft's perspective may seem bleak, the Temple transforms this understanding into a catalyst for growth and self-improvement through the process of Ascension.
For us, the Great Old Ones are not merely fictional characters. They are cosmic entities that reveal the truths of existence to those brave enough to seek them. Through our meditations and rituals, we explore the true nature of the universe, embracing its indifference and drawing strength from its mysteries.
The embrace of the philosophy, rituals, symbol lore, textiles, and Practicum of ritual work, and the yearning to seek deeper truths beyond societal illusions.
The continuous process of self-improvement and personal growth across all dimensions of being: Physical (Shugg), mental (Phlegeth), spiritual (Shagg), and the Void (Shogg).
The coming together of like-minded individuals who support each other on their paths, creating a community stronger than any individual member.
The adherents of this philosophy, Cultists, are called to build upon these three pillars and embody the cosmic wisdom of the Old Ones. Some view these cosmic entities beyond our comprehension, while others see them as powerful archetypes representing fundamental forces of reality and the human psyche. For us, personal transformation occurs through practice and ritual work.
These practices help Cultists develop greater self-awareness, mental discipline, and connection to both the Temple community and the cosmic forces that we revere. The Temple of the Old Ones offers a path to those who have heard The Call, those who sense there is more to existence than what conventional society acknowledges. Through our teachings and community, we provide guidance to those seeking to transcend ordinary consciousness and embrace the sublime terror and wonder of a universe far grander than human comprehension.
While some aspects of our teachings are openly shared, joining the Miskatonic University and progressing through our initiatory system is the only official way to join the Temple. Membership of the Temple is entirely free and open to anyone, however, this is a process that demands dedication, perseverance, and the ability to integrate harmoniously into our community.
We honour the universe's vast indifference and we value the diverse perspectives of our members. Our community is a haven for all, regardless of belief, Atheists, Theists, and everyone in between.
